Size Guide

Everything here is printed after you order it, which means we cannot swap a piece for a different size later. Five minutes on this page is worth more than any returns policy we could write. Our returns policy explains why.

The one thing to understand first

Our measurements describe the garment, not your body.

Every product page has a size table. Those numbers are taken from the item laid flat on a table and measured across. They are not the measurements of the person who fits into it.

So if the chest on a size Medium reads 20.67 inches, that is not a 20 inch chest. It is the width of the shirt across the front. Double it to get the way round. 20.67 inches across becomes roughly 41 inches all the way round.

This catches people out constantly, and it is the single most common reason an order arrives in the wrong size.

The reliable way to get it right

Forget measuring yourself. Measure a shirt you already own and like the fit of.

  1. Take a top from your wardrobe that fits the way you want this one to fit.
  2. Lay it flat on a table or a bed and smooth out the wrinkles.
  3. Measure straight across the chest, about an inch below where the sleeves meet the body.
  4. Measure from the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem for the length.
  5. Compare those two numbers to the table on the product page and pick the closest size.

Chest and length are the two that decide whether something feels right. Get those close and you will be happy with it.

What each row in the table means

  • Chest. Straight across the front, under the arms. Half the way round.
  • Length. Top of the shoulder down to the bottom hem. This decides whether it sits on your hip or below it.
  • Shoulder. Seam to seam across the back. On our loose and dropped shoulder pieces this number is deliberately wide, so do not panic when it looks large.
  • Sleeve length. From the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve.
  • Waist and Hip. On dresses, bottoms and leggings only. Also measured flat, so double them too.

A worked example

This is a real chart, from the most common tee we sell. Every figure is inches first, centimetres in brackets.

Measurement S M L XL 2XL 3XL
Length 26.57 (67.5) 27.36 (69.5) 28.35 (72) 29.33 (74.5) 30.12 (76.5) 30.71 (78)
Chest 19.69 (50) 20.67 (52.5) 21.65 (55) 22.64 (57.5) 23.62 (60) 24.61 (62.5)
Shoulder 18.90 (48) 19.88 (50.5) 20.87 (53) 21.85 (55.5) 22.83 (58) 23.82 (60.5)
Sleeve length 8.46 (21.5) 8.66 (22) 8.86 (22.5) 9.06 (23) 9.25 (23.5) 9.45 (24)

Reading that: a Large measures 21.65 inches across the chest, so about 43 inches all the way round, and hangs 28.35 inches from shoulder to hem.

This chart is an example only. It does not apply to every product. Different pieces are cut differently, so always use the table on the page of the item you are buying.

Why there is no single chart for the whole shop

We would like there to be. There is not, and pretending otherwise would cost you money.

The pieces in this shop are cut to a lot of different patterns. A Medium in a boxy dropped shoulder tee and a Medium in a fitted crop top are not the same garment and do not measure the same. That is why the exact table sits on each product page rather than here.

The fit names we use

These describe the cut, not the size:

  • Regular. Standard fit. Follows the body without clinging.
  • Loose and oversized. Cut wider and often longer on purpose. If you want it to look the way it does in the photo, take your normal size rather than sizing down.
  • Dropped shoulder. The shoulder seam sits down your arm rather than on the shoulder bone. Makes the shoulder measurement read wide. Intentional.
  • Crop and cropped. Shorter body. Check the length figure carefully on these, it is the whole point of the cut.
  • Bodycon and skinny. Close fitting, cut to follow the body. The least forgiving of the fits, so measure before ordering.

What sizes we carry

Most pieces run S to XL, and a good number go up to 2XL and 3XL. A few go further in both directions, up to 5XL and down to XS. A small number of items use numbered sizing instead of letters.

The range genuinely varies by piece, so the size dropdown on the product page is the only complete answer. If a size is not in that dropdown, we do not have it in that design.

If you are between two sizes

Take the larger one. A shirt that is slightly roomy still gets worn. A shirt that is slightly tight does not.

Still not sure

Email teghbirmeen@gmail.com with the product you are looking at and the measurements of a top that fits you well, and we will tell you which size to take. We would far rather answer that email than process a problem afterwards.
